Chief of Staff:

Salary Range: $90K - $125K

Overview: Acceleraise Corporation, a New Orleans-based fund development consulting firm, is seeking a full-time Chief of Staff to manage director-level personnel and oversee the relationships with our non-profit client partners. Acceleraise Corporation has 5 full-time staff members, 3 part-time staff members, and 4 contractors. Acceleraise is creating a sustainable, well-resourced infrastructure that will support Black and Brown visionaries achieve their goals. We are seeking an experienced development professional committed to racial equity and Acceleraise’s mission to develop, support, and sustain visionary Black- and Brown-led non-profit organizations. This individual will be an organized self-starter and excellent communicator who can operate at optimal levels with little to no supervision while providing supportive, encouraging, and effective management for our team. The Chief of Staff will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Ingrid Alvarado Nichols. This is not a remote position; however, the Chief of Staff will manage two remote employees, and all contractors and part-time staff work remotely.


  • Supervise director-level staff

  • Coach, support, and develop staff as needed, targeting each team member’s specific strengths and growth areas

  • Conduct semi-annual performance evaluations

  • Lead weekly company-wide meetings and 1:1 supervision meetings to establish productive working relationships and a positive staff culture

  • Design and deliver monthly internal training sessions in various domains of development and consulting including but not limited to grant writing, moves management, peer-to-peer solicitation, the donor cultivation cycle, capital campaigns, development strategy, and client success practices

  • Review and edit deliverables for quality assurance

  • Oversee the execution of contract deliverables and scopes of work for client relationships

  • Strategically assign new clients to each account manager considering a number of factors, prioritizing the best fit for the client considering managers’ capacity and strengths

  • Manage client relationships as needed by leading client meetings, developing custom development strategy, connecting clients with donors, and facilitating donor meetings

  • Support each account manager as needed by attending client meetings and providing feedback and recommendations

  • Work with the Director of Grants and Operations and the Operations Manager to improve internal management systems that ensure collegiality, efficiency, and coordination

  • Manage the hiring process

  • Accomplish organizational goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value

  • Maintain professionalism at all times with fellow Acceleraise employees and clients

Job Requirements:

  • Commitment to racial equity and Acceleraise’s mission to develop, support, and sustain visionary Black and Brown-led non-profit organizations. Value alignment with Acceleraise is not negotiable.

  • Based in New Orleans, or willing to relocate with a stipend to cover moving expenses

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, non-profit management, communications, or related field; Master’s preferred

  • Strong written communication skills

  • At least 5 years experience managing personnel

  • At least 10 years experience in non-profit fundraising and/or philanthropy

  • Proficiency in Google Suite, including Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Slides

  • Experience tracking donor engagement data in a CRM

  • Extensive knowledge in grant writing, moves management, annual funds, major gifts, and development strategy

  • Self-starter, able to perform at optimal levels with little to no supervision

  • Highly skilled in interpersonal communication, relationship-building, and conflict resolution with the ability to coach and develop staff in a supportive and personalized fashion

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Excellent time and priority management skills

  • A critical thinker, able to develop creative solutions to internal and external problems

  • Consulting or customer success experience preferred, not required
